FUN RUN 2026
The Second Annual Fun Run gathered a lively crowd of Burnaby FilCan and North Vancouver church members and friends at Burnaby Central Park, all united to support the church building fund raising. Despite the early morning chill, participants of all ages arrived with an energy that warmed the atmosphere. The community-run not only aimed to raise funds but also to bring bretheren together for a morning filled with excitement and family fellowship. Everyone was welcomed, from seasoned runners to leisurely walkers, all sporting bright t-shirts with the event’s logo. This inclusive approach helped foster a strong community spirit, reminding everyone of the power of collective effort.
As the signal to start the race blared, participants set off on the well-marked rubberized trail around the picturesque Burnaby Central park. The FunRun seeks to highlight the visibility of Adventists within the community and promote the health advantages of engaging in physical activities like walking and running.
Before everyone runs, Pastor Theody Malabanan offered a short devotional talk which was both inspiring and thought-provoking. He began by discussing the importance of setting personal goals and staying true to one’s values, emphasizing how these principles apply not only to running but to life in general. Pastor Theody used writings of Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24 to illustrate how faith and perseverance can help overcome challenges and achieve one’s dreams. His message was deeply rooted in the belief that faith can fuel determination as we navigate our daily walk with God. The pastor’s heartfelt words seemed to cast a calming spell over the group, ensuring that every participant was mentally prepared for the physical challenge ahead.
Following the devotional talk, the group transitioned seamlessly into a series of warm-up exercises, preparing everyone’s body for the run, and made to ensure a risk-free experience for all participants.
A light meal was serve to express thank you to the fun run supporters.
See you again next year.
